Job Title: Yard Hand / Shop Assistant

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba - Note, there is currently no bus service to our location.

At True North HDD, we supply horizontal directional drilling (HDD) tools and heavy construction equipment to contractors across North America. We're a growing, down-to-earth team that takes pride in getting the job done right and supporting both our customers and each other.

The Role:

We're looking for a Yard Hand / Shop Assistant who's ready to roll up their sleeves and help keep our shop and yard running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in everything from organizing inventory to helping customers, booking shipments, and keeping the yard in top shape. If you like variety in your workday and being part of a team where everyone pitches in, this could be a great fit for you

What You'll Do:

  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipping or customer pickup
  • Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other shop equipment
  • Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks and trailers
  • Book, track, and coordinate equipment shipments to make sure deliveries run on time
  • Organize and maintain inventory in the shop and yard
  • Assist customers with product questions and purchases
  • Jump in to support the sales team when needed
  • Keep the shop and yard clean, safe, and well-organized

What We're Looking For:

  • Able to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs)
  • Mechanical knowledge or hands-on equipment experience is an asset (but not required)
  • Comfortable using computers for inventory and shipment tracking
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Forklift Operator Certification (or willing to complete within 90 days of start)
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid class 5 driver's license at minimum

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.50-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
