The Surrey School District participates in the BC government’s Feeding Futures program, providing breakfast and lunch at 73 schools. This program receives foundational funding from the government for staffing and core operations, with additional support from generous donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals covering food costs. This collaborative effort enables us to address the nutritional needs across our expansive student population.

Our meal offerings, both hot and cold, are carefully designed to meet complete nutrition guidelines, ensuring that they not only nourish but also bring comfort, joy, and a sense of value and recognition to our students.

This is a 12 month position reporting to the Manager, Food Services, working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week with some weekend and evenings and early mornings required. One position will be 8am to 4pm and one will be 6am – 2pm with a half hour lunch break.



The Food Service Supervisor oversees food service operations at selected Surrey schools by:

conducting school visits to ensure service, nutrition, food quality and safety standards are maintained at all times


providing clear, easily understood directions to staff and follow up to ensure comprehension and completion

discussing students’ food allergies with parents and school staff to ensure student safety

plan menus that appeal to students within the budget, the Guidelines for Food and Beverages in BC Schools, FoodSafe standards, etc.


monitor student acceptance of the meals, order patterns, and make changes as required.

completing related duties including scheduling, orientation and training for staff, record keeping.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

A two-year program in Nutrition and Food Services Management from an educational institute recognized by the District


Current certification in Food Safe I and II

5 year recent related experience.

Able to use Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and Bullforg


Eligible for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management

Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle to move between sites.

This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $33.04 per hour plus a liberal benefit package including pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
