BRENDAR Environmental, a leader in the hazardous waste management industry with 30 years of success in servicing a broad range of clients including municipalities, the private sectors, and government institutions in Ontario, is seeking a dedicated Hazardous Waste Technician for our Bracebridge operations.

Job Description:

The Hazardous Waste Technician is a vital member of our team that performs a variety of technical functions related to the management of waste. The ideal candidate will be a conscientious, team-oriented individual tasked with handling hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials from a variety of clients. Administratively this role involves attention to detail, a solid regulatory understanding, and an organized approach to inventory management. Operationally, this role is very hands-on, and involves shipping/receiving, waste processing and equipment operation.

This role suits a hardworking individual who is hands-on, flexible, very organized, and enjoys a busy workday with a variety of different work experiences. Approximately 80% of your time will be on-site as a waste technician handling both non-hazardous and hazardous waste materials. This involves shipping/receiving, collection, sorting and packaging and processing materials. The other aspect of this position (approx. 20% of your time) will be working Household Hazardous Waste collection events where residents drop off their paint, oil, and other items.

Job Location: Work at two facilities within Bracebridge

• 1122 Rosewarne Dr., Bracebridge, ON, P1L 1W9
• 540 Ecclestone Dr., Bracebridge, ON, P1L 1R2

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am -5:00pm

* Subject to change on occasion when offsite*

Key Responsibilities:

• Shipping/Receiving duties
• Managing Inventories of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes
• Sorting, identification, processing, and labeling of waste materials

• Prepare/review shipping documents

• Loading/unloading materials (physical)

• Assist with household hazardous waste collection events (various sites)

• Assist with processing activities

• Follow all health & safety requirements

• Some Saturdays and offsite work required

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

• Responsible, reliable and organized

• Physically fit

• Environmentally conscious person

• Knowledge of WHMIS and strong safety practices

• Forklift experience (An asset)
• Strong communication skills
