Fortinet has a great opportunity for a Mobility and Immigration Associate to join the Canada HR Operations team and really make an impact. This is initially a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanent.



In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our employees have legal capacity to work at all times. You will report to the Mobility and Immigration Specialist and have the opportunity to assist in developing and driving immigration strategy that will help Fortinet reach growth targets.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform monthly check-ins with employees on a work permit to ensure they are able to maintain work status and follow up as needed
  • Provide initial assessment on immigration needs of employees on a work permit and recommend course of action to maintain legal capacity to work
  • Work with external immigration counsel to complete applications and supporting documents for submission to government agencies for work authorization, sponsorship, and compliance in a timely and organized manner
  • Communicate with managers and HR Business Partners on the status of on-going immigration cases
  • Manage the BC PNP sponsorship program by reviewing and assessing BC PNP requests against company policies and program eligibility, recommending cases to be sponsored, and providing support to employees who are undergoing PNP sponsorship
  • Respond to immigration questions, review issues and concerns, and provide guidance in regards to Fortinet’s immigration policy and general immigration information and resources
  • Ensure organization, quality control, data input, and general maintenance of immigration compliance records
  • Review and record immigration invoices and work with Finance to ensure timely processing
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general immigration regulations, PNP nomination process, immigration public policies, compliance requirements, and communicate any changes to the team
  • Assist the Mobility and Immigration Specialist in developing strategies and streamlining immigration processes
  • Assist and/or implement various immigration initiatives, projects, and internal audits as needed

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Education or training in Immigration, RCIC preferred
  • 2+ years hands-on experience supporting high volume immigration, either internally within a fast-paced company, or at an immigration consulting or law firm
  • Experience or education in Human Resources is an asset but not required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance business needs with immigration best practices
  • Strong understanding of immigration law and compliance, the BC Provincial Nomination Program including Canadian Permanent Residency process – Express Entry and CEC; Having knowledge of the OINP is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Canadian work permits such as PNP WP, PGWP, GTS, ICT, FTA’s and C20
  • Professional work experience in which you have proven yourself as an efficient, analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and trusted resource that played a critical role for the team you were on
  • A passion for Canadian immigration and desire to grow in this field
  • Independent yet collaborative professional who has managed competing priorities, has strong and effective communication skills, and worked alongside and within a network of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, especially in Excel
  • Proven effective and quality customer service in a high-pace and high-volume environment

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $43,200 – $58,400 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
