Reports to: Vice President of Alternative Lending Description: Working within Capital West, this position is responsible for fulfilling credit-committed loans and ensuring the smooth flow of all loan fundings for Pacifica Mortgage Investment Corporation and a local Credit Union’s Non-Traditional portfolio. The position provides support to our Vice President of Alternative Lending, Mortgage Underwriters, and Alternative Lending team. The applicant will also have the opportunity to grow into a junior underwriter position over time.

Key Responsibilities: Assist with reviewing underwriting documentation, such as appraisals, notices of assessments, strata minutes, financial statements, and all other funding related conditions required. Prepare and instruct solicitors. Prepare and ensure mortgage fundings are processed in accordance with the approval and all conditions and requirements have been met prior to the advance of funds.

Update the appropriate systems and ensure all data has been entered correctly. Coordinate with accounting and notify the referring brokers once a funding is complete and payment of brokerage fee has been made. Prepare the Commitment Letter & disclosure documents when required.

Maintain a general knowledge and compliance of all aspect of the mortgage portfolios. Work with referring brokers to receive and review the required due diligence documentation. Work on all aspects of the post funding duties and ensure all appropriate areas have been reviewed and actioned.

Work effectively and maintain a positive and high level of service with mortgage brokers, borrowers, solicitors, and other external partners. Identify best practices and opportunities to improve internal processes and procedures. Liaising with administrative staff and Directors when required.

Report preparation and generation using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as our internal System. Education / Experience / Skills: Minimum 2 years of experience in either mortgage fulfilment at a major Financial Institution, mortgage brokerage firm, or other equivalent experience. Licensed sub-mortgage broker course an asset.

If the applicant is not licensed, they will be required to take the course and complete within their first year of employment. Strong customer service with the ability to work closely with mortgage brokers, providing exceptional service and fostering and maintaining relationships. Detail-orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong financial mathematics knowledge. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attention to detail.

Advanced use of Microsoft Office. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint skills and good overall computer skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Adaptable and able to work effectively under pressure. Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
